Celebrating Women & Femmes Who Inspire Us

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, Unite Oregon will be highlighting a series of trailblazing women from our team and community leaders who are paving the way for future generations, creating visibility and shifting the narrative.

In recent months, there have been over 18 states that introduced legislation that threatens reproductive rights, women’s privacy medical rights, trans youth medical protections, and censoring drag queens. As a political organization, we recognize the significance of the global majority of women. That includes transwomen, female-identified, femmes, and non-binary persons who hold an identity of black, brown, indigenous, Southeast Asian, Asian American, pacific islander, or a marginalized person of color. By applying an equity lens to all areas of our work, we strive to center women and femmes in our programming, and policy campaigns and uplift their voices.

"Feminism is, of course, part of human rights in general — but to choose to use the vague expression human rights is to deny the specific and particular problem of gender. It would be a way of pretending that it was not women who have, for centuries, been excluded. It would be a way of denying that the problem of gender targets women." - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (Nigerian Writer)
