Unite Oregon Anti-Discrimination Policy
UO envisions a strong multicultural democracy inclusive of all. We believe diverse communities benefit when they come together to exchange knowledge and experience. To have a safe inclusive space, UO welcomes and respects diversity in all its forms. Discrimination will not be tolerated by members, volunteers, staff, or Board members.
Equal Opportunity Employment
Equal Opportunity Employment has been, and will continue to be, a fundamental principle at UO. UO is committed to providing equal employment opportunity to all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, sex, gender identity, pregnancy, religion, national origin, age, disability, genetics, sexual identity, marital, or past, present or current military service status, including membership in the National Guard, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by local or state laws (“protected status”). Protected status may also include an individual's marriage to or association with someone with any status listed above.
This policy applies to all aspects of employment with us, including recruitment, hiring, rates of pay, promotion, training, termination, benefit plans, and all other forms of compensation, conditions, and privileges of employment for both employees and applicants. This policy also governs all conduct in the workplace, including our interactions with outside vendors, contractors, subscribers, customers, consultants, and dealings with the general public, and at all work-related events.
Any employee who violates this policy may be subject to discipline, up to and including immediate termination of employment. If you experience, observe, or become aware of any conduct you believe may be discriminatory, you must immediately report it to your supervisor, the Finance & Administration director, or the Executive Director.
Open Door Policy
UO encourages employees to participate actively in making our organization a better place. Our Open-Door policy offers each employee an opportunity to bring suggestions, observations, problems, or concerns regarding yourself or the organization to the attention of any manager or their manager without fear of retaliation. We also welcome early identification of opportunities and challenges, and mutual resolution of complaints. We also strongly encourage early resolution of any conflicts or grievances among our employees.
When you are uncertain about any situation, seek guidance - from your manager or the Finance & Administration director. You may use whatever method of communication makes you feel most comfortable. The important thing is that you get the guidance and resources that you need. Unite Oregon will take all questions, complaints, and other issues raised by our employees seriously. When you bring a concern or complaint to Unite Oregon, we will promptly and thoroughly investigate the matter. Employees must cooperate with investigations and must always be truthful and forthcoming in the course of any investigation undertaken by Unite Oregon. We will maintain confidentiality to the fullest extent possible, consistent with the need to conduct an appropriate review, and will take prompt and action as necessary.
