Unite Oregon’s 20th Anniversary
This year, Unite Oregon is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Since Unite Oregon was founded, we have witnessed moments of immense hardship in our state– from economic recessions, political challenges, and wildfires to the Covid-19 pandemic. We have also witnessed the extraordinary resilience of Oregonians and the positive impact we can achieve when we work together. Over twenty years, we have empowered and activated hundreds of leaders, worked with our communities to pass sweeping policy change for a more equitable Oregon, and built a statewide organization that lifts up and affirms the incredible courage, dignity, and contributions of immigrants, refugees, and Black, Indigenous, People of Color. As we look to the future, Unite Oregon is excited to build and will continue maximizing our growth and impact for the next generation of this amazing organization.
We are concentrating our efforts on building generational wealth for immigrant, refugee, and BIPOC communities in Oregon. The experiences of the last two years have highlighted structural inequities in our communities that impact access to wealth, and we have an opportunity now to change course and build significant wealth and prosperity for future generations. This is a goal we can achieve. Now we turn to you-- our friends, neighbors, and partners -- to empowerour communities to take back control of their financial circumstances. We want to remove the obstacles that have existed for centuries and prevent BIPOC communities from building wealth, such as access to education, healthcare, jobs, and housing. By addressing this now, our communities will have the resources needed to weather future economic pressures, whether due to climate crises or economic recession.
